New nonprofit seeks to bring Baldwin County LGBTQ community together during Pride Month
A new group is taking the helm of Baldwin County’s otherwise sparse LGBTQ scene. Coloring the Eastern Shore is a recently founded nonprofit that formed in response to a lack of formal LGBTQ advocacy organizations in the Baldwin County area. For their first event, they’re putting together Color Fairhope with Pride on Saturday.
Multi-Specialty Clinic Holds Grand Opening In Fairhope
The South Baldwin Medical Group Multi-Specialty Clinic recently held a ribbon cutting and grand opening at 8096 Twin Beech Road, Suite 250 in Fairhope. This location will offer general surgery services and neuro spine services with four providers initially and plans to add more. It will house Baldwin County’s only woman general surgeon, Dr. Kaci Sims, and introduce the neuro spine service line to Baldwin County, with services provided by Dr. Juan Ronderos.

Take a stroll through Summerdale’s Alligator Alley. For the past two decades, the alligator population in Baldwin County has been steadily growing. Located 18 miles north of Gulf Shores, Wes Moore’s 160-acre Summerdale property – home to Alligator Alley – now boasts over 700 primitive reptile residents whose distant ancestors once roamed the planet with dinosaurs. While many were born into captivity at the site, others were “nuisance animals” relocated from around the Southeast.
Daphne Opens New Fire Department Training Facility
The Daphne Fire Department recently opened its newest training facility, FOX10 reports. The Candidate Physical Ability Testing (CPAT) facility was developed to help find trainable firefighter candidates. Within the Daphne fire training facility, the CPAT is the first such facility in Baldwin County and only the 11th in Alabama. The physically demanding CPAT test costs $35 dollars, which covers one training session and one testing session. Anyone in the state can take it at this facility and find more information at the Alabama Fire College.
