Civil rights attorney Michael Sussman meets with some of those arrested on May 2 at SUNY New Paltz
Dozens of students and others who were arrested at the SUNY New Paltz protest on May 2 showed up at the New Paltz town court for their arraignment on May 14. Most were unwilling to speak on the record. One who did speak was college senior Aiden Vasiu-Rogers, who was appearing without an attorney. Charged with trespassing — as were most of those arrested when police officers dispersed the protestors — Vasiu-Rogers described the experience as “terrible, sad, haunting.” Many others did have legal representation. Civil rights attorney Michael Sussman gathered clients on the grass outside the justice center to explain the arraignment process and hold forth on the rights protected in the U.S. and state constitutions.

Heading to Rundgren’s sold-out show at the Bearsville Theatre near Woodstock NY, I remembered the ’70s and the slow-paced hits I loved such as “Hello it’s Me.” I knew that Rundgren had lived in the Woodstock area and had a recording studio there, but a little research revealed how many different kinds of performers he had worked with over the decade, from Meat Loaf to Ringo Starr. The packed house didn’t hear much of that.
NY weather: Prepare for dense fog in New York until Monday morning
A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Monday at 5:42 a.m. for dense fog until 9 a.m. for Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties. "Patchy dense fog this morning will lead to reduced visibilities during the Monday morning commute and motorists are urged to allow extra travel time to arrive to their destinations this morning. Also motorists should allow extra distance between you and other vehicles as visibilities may drop suddenly. Fog should diminish by 8 to 9am this morning," according to the weather service.
David Sanborn dies; saxophone legend played Syracuse Jazz Fest and Woodstock
David Sanborn, a Grammy-winning saxophonist who played the Syracuse Jazz Festival and Woodstock, has died. He was 78. NPR reports Sanborn died Sunday in Tarrytown, N.Y.
