2 people dead after home explosion in Ritchie County
PENNSBORO, W.Va. (WDTV) - Two people died in a fire Sunday morning in Ritchie County, according to the Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Department. Crews responded to a home explosion just outside of the the Pennsboro city limits at 8:37 a.m. Sunday morning. After getting the fire under control, it was confirmed two individuals died in the home, officials said.

Woman accused of kicking, dragging child in Roane County, court records say
ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Roane County woman accused of kicking and dragging her child by the arm faces multiple charges, court records said. Adrionna M. Hoosier, 26, of Spencer is charged with two counts of child abuse creating risk of injury, domestic battery and driving with a suspended license, according to a criminal complaint filed in Roane County Magistrate Court.

Mid-Ohio Valley students named National Merit Scholar recipients
PARKERSBURG — Two students from Wood and Wirt counties were named Tuesday as National Merit Scholar recipients of scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. They are Chase S. Anderson, of Mineral Wells, a student at Parkersburg South High School, and Maxwell T. Flanagan of Palestine, a student at Wirt County High School.
