No quick fix in sight for 114-year-old bridge in South Buffalo
Every other month for the past 10 years or so, Phillip Tompkins has complained to the South Buffalo supervisors about what he says is a rickety bridge on Clinton Road. He worries that emergency vehicles could miss the posted 10-ton weight limit and cause the span to buckle, or that a school bus might hit a patch of ice and crash through the bridge’s wooden railing.

Trib HSSN baseball player of the week: David Posey. #Earned: For a second straight year, a David was crowned king at the WPIAL Class 6A championship game with a no-hitter at his coronation. One year after David Shields of Mt. Lebanon threw a no-hitter in the title game to beat North Allegheny, the tables were turned, and it was Tigers senior David Posey throwing the no-no to beat the two-time defending champion Blue Devils, 1-0. Posey improved to 6-0 on the season with the victory. He allowed only four baserunners, one on a strikeout/wild pitch, one on an error on the left fielder and two walks in the sixth inning. He walked two and struck out 11 in becoming the fifth pitcher this century to throw a no-hitter in a WPIAL baseball championship game. Posey also had one of the Tigers’ five hits off Shields.
