Brush fires hit Hanson, Raynham as drought raises fire risk
Brush fires have been breaking out across the region, keeping local firefighters busy battling the flames. The Hanson Fire Department responded to a fire that broke out Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Hanson Veterans Memorial Town Forest at around 6 p.m. Crews continued working to extinguish remaining hot spots through Wednesday morning. "Hanson firefighters returned to the Town Forest Wednesday morning to extinguish remaining hot spots," the department said in a written statement. "The fire burned more than four acres on Tuesday." And last week, Raynhan also battled a brush fire of its own that proved difficult to mitigate. "On Friday, Oct. 30, at about 7:45 p.m., the Raynham Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Cobb Street for a report of an unattended campfire. Upon arrival, crews found a significant brush fire," the department said. "Due to the location of the fire, crews encountered access issues and needed to clear brush and trees to make a direct path to extinguish the flames ... Crews were able to extinguish the flames and remained on scene monitoring hot spots until about 11:30 p.m." Hanson residents may notice 'light smoke' as result of brush fire responder efforts Mutual aid crews from

It all comes to an end
We’ve had no measurable rain for almost three weeks, and now that stretch will now come to an end. For some of us that will be tomorrow, for the rest that will be on Friday. So hopefully you enjoyed what we had out there today with sunshine and *near* record temperatures! Maybe it was too warm for some of us… As of 3pm we are just shy of tying records in both Boston and Worcester, but certainly today was in record territory.
