A cool start to the week as needed rain arrives this afternoon
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - It was a chilly start to the day as several locations observed their first 30-degree temperatures of the season, including Eau Claire with a low of 37. High pressure has departed into the Great Lakes Region, while our next weather-maker begins to move in from the Plains. Clouds have now taken hold, with rain expected to arrive throughout the afternoon. Some of the rain could be heavy at times into this evening, with a few embedded thunderstorms not being ruled out. No severe weather is expected. With the clouds and rainfall, daytime highs will be confined to the 60s for most places. Ahead of our system, southeasterly winds will continue to ramp up at 14-22 mph, with an occasional gust up to 35 mph possible.

A taste of autumn in the days ahead
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - It’s a comfortable start to our Sunday, as temperatures have fallen into the 40s. A small wave will pass through the upper-Midwest, allowing for a chance of a few showers west of the Mississippi River and for locations south of La Crosse. Dry air may be a concern, so most locations will stay dry. Decreasing clouds will be in store for the rest of the day, with winds remaining breezy out of the northwest. Highs will be slightly cooler, with many spots in the Chippewa Valley likely to stay in the 60s. High pressure will begin to take over Sunday night into Monday. This will allow for clearing overnight, and temperatures to fall below average into the low 40s as winds lighten.
