Milton, Pa. — Two men struggling over a gun led to a shooting last week on Broadway Street in Milton, according to police. Man jailed for vicious assault that landed victim in hospital
Beavertown, Pa. — A Beavertown man is in jail after he allegedly assaulted and seriously injured another man. The assault occurred shortly after 3:15 p.m. April 18 at Conewago Snyder on Route 522 in Beaver Township. Trp. Jacob Kozma said Anthony R. Savage, 31, got into a fight with a 45-year-man at the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. The male victim was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of serious injuries, police said. Savage was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, and summary harassment through the office of District Judge Bo Trawitz. Savage remains in Snyder in lieu of $10,000 bail as he awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 15. Docket Sheet
Man gets long federal prison term in central Pa. meth, heroin and fentanyl case
WILLIAMSPORT — A Northumberland County man has been sentenced to 6½ years in federal prison for possessing with intent to deliver methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl. Glen Taormina, 37, will be on supervision for four years when he gets out of prison according to the sentence imposed Wednesday by U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann.

Blaze damages Pa. winery housed in a former fire company
The investigation is continuing into what caused a fire inside the building that housed the Firehouse Winery in Shamokin, Northumberland County. Located in what was the former Liberty Hose Co. at 211 E. Sunbury St., the fire broke out during the afternoon of April 21 and drew emergency personnel from the Shamokin Fire Co., according to WNEP.

SUBURY — A Northumberland County man has been sentenced to 1 to 5 years in prison for providing the fentanyl that killed his brother. Christopher Payne, 22, of Mount Carmel, apologized before being sentenced Monday in county court on a charge of involuntary manslaughter to which he had pleaded guilty in February.

Thief steals $3,600 of tools from construction site
Danville, Pa. — Police say an unknown suspect broke into two construction trailers in Valley Township, Montour County and stole $3,600 tools. Someone got into the site at Valley West Road over the weekend of April 5-8 and broke into two trailers owned by Glenn O. Hawbaker, according to Trp. Casey Ward of state police at Milton. The suspect removed all of the tools, including Milwaukee and Stihl tools with the initials GOH carved into them. Items stolen include a Milwaukee hammer drill, two Stihl chop saws with the initials, and a Milwaukee cordless kit.
