Talk show host Bill Maher blasted pro-Palestinian protesters for "posturing for a cause" that isn't winning any new followers over.

Protests have broken out worldwide in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Some groups took to blocking highways near the airports in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle among other cities. Maher addressed these protesters in the Friday airing of his show Real Time with Bill Maher .

"New rule: someone needs to tell the people who block traffic in the name of a cause no one likes you and you're probably hurting your cause," Maher opened the segment. "You have to be pretty dumb to think that the way to bring people around to your point of view is to make them late to pick up their kids from daycare. That's what most normies are thinking, 'I have a kid, I have a job, and yes I'm sure there are injustices on both sides in the Middle East as there are injustices all over the world, but I'm going to be late for work, something you protesters on the bridge seem to have the luxury of not having to worry about which seems kind of privilege-y. You can glue your hands to the street because your hands don't have to do any work.'"

Maher went on to suggest that most protesters were unaware of the situation between Israelis and Palestinians before Oct. 7, when Hamas invaded southern Israel, and Israel responded with missile strikes into Gaza .

"Not to rub it in, but you know who all this posturing for a cause reminds me of? This fat guy from Florida who's always pretending that he's all about the cause of making America great again when plainly he's simply history's greatest attention whore," Maher said as pictures of Donald Trump flashed on the screen. "So chew on that my warrior friends: the person you most resemble is the guy who looks like he's always jerking off two guys at once."

Approximately 34,000 Palestinians have been killed during the conflict in Gaza, according to the local health ministry. The ministry’s count doesn’t distinguish between combatants and non-combatants but alleges that two-thirds of their dead are women and children.

Hamas continues to hold some 134 civilians captured over six months ago hostage. During a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas last November in which over 100 hostages were exchanged on each side, Hamas abruptly ended the agreed-upon pause early by launching missiles at Israel.
