Local roundup: Scranton Prep boys lacrosse holds off Abington Heights

The Scranton Prep boys lacrosse team survived a tough test from Abington Heights, holding off the Comets for a 9-8 win to remain atop the WVC standings as one of the last two undefeated teams in the league.

Will McPartland scored three goals and added two assists for Prep. Finn Kane added two goals.

Gavin Anders and Gavin Lindsay each scored three times for Abington Heights.

Delaware Valley 22, Tunkhannock 7

Peyton LaRocco’s five goals led the way for Delaware Valley as the Warriors improved to 12-0 with the win. Owen Kelly and Bryson Mackey had three goals each for Delaware Valley, with Kelly adding four assists.

Zach Latwinski led Tunkhannock with two goals. Gage Rosengrant had one goal and a team-high three assists.

Wilkes-Barre Area 10, Lake-Lehman 6

Joey Egidio scored five goals to lead the Wolfpack to victory over Lake-Lehman. Conner Losito added three goals for Wilkes-Barre Area.

Logan Law led the Black Knights with two goals.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Wyoming Seminary 21, Bellefonte 6

Sem picked up a big non-conference win in a rout of District 6 opponent Bellefonte.

Abby Williams led the Blue Knights with six goals, and Ellie Kersey added four goals and four assists. Wyoming Seminary had nine different scorers in the win.

BOYS TENNIS

Wyoming Area 5, Pittston Area 0

The clash between rivals went to Wyoming Area, sweeping the Patriots.

Luca Argenio, Christian Abromovage and Liam Burke each won in singles for Wyoming Area. The Warriors won the two doubles matches by forfeit.

COLLEGES

MEN’S TENNIS

King’s 8, Lycoming 1

The Monarchs swept the six singles matches en route to a win over MAC foe Lycoming College.

Logan Gregory, John Toussaint, Patrick Pech and Brendan Turowski each won twice for King’s.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

King’s 5, Lycoming 4

The Monarchs won three singles matches and two doubles matches to pull out the win over Lycoming.

Ashley Kenia, Hailey D’Amato and Carlee Dellose each won in both singles and doubles for King’s.

Misericordia’s Pizzano earns MAC academic honor

Misericordia standout Brianna Pizzano was named the 2024 Middle Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Friday.

Pizzano is a three-time member of the Academic All-MAC time and MAC Academic Honor Roll. On the court, she’s a three-time MAC champion at first singles and is a three-time MAC Freedom Player of the Year.

SOFTBALL

FDU-Florham 7, King’s 6

A seven-run fourth inning doomed the Monarchs in a tight loss to FDU-Florham. King’s led 4-0 heading to the fourth, but gave up seven runs on nine hits to fall behind.

Emily Novicki had two doubles and a run scored for King’s.
