Savannah's first public fitness zone opens at Summerside Park
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Savannah’s first public fitness zone is officially opened. The city celebrated the opening with a ribbon cutting at Summerside Park Saturday. The new state-of-the-art fitness zone has 11 outdoor exercise stations similar to what you’d see in a gym. That includes things like a chest press, lat pulldown, balance board, leg press, and an accessible hand cycle just to name a few. District 5 Alderwoman Estella Shabazz shared that the push for this project, really came from local residents.

SCAD exploring future of O-House dorm, potential plans include increase in bed count
The signature Savannah College of Art and Design dorm on Oglethorpe Avenue's west end, known for its colorful doors and midcentury features, may undergo a transformation. A SCAD representative met with City Manager Jay Melder and Director of Planning and Urban Design Bridget Lidy on Feb. 7 about the potential for a new two-building, 700-bed dorm complex, according to a meeting invite and project blueprints obtained by the Savannah Morning News via an open records request.
