Portions of WYO 130 closed for remainder of season
LARAMIE, Wyo. — Wyoming Highway 130 through the high country of the Snowy Range has officially closed for the season. Due to drifting and blowing snow, Wyoming Department of Transportation crews in Laramie and Saratoga decided current road conditions warranted closing the section of the highway for the season.

Illegal yellow perch were found in Saratoga Lake during the 2022 ice fishing derby. To prevent the invasive fish species from escaping and harming the surrounding area, Wyoming Game and Fish used a specialized toxin to kill off all aquatic life in the lake.

The project is a participatory artwork created by Molly Gochman that uses sidewalk interventions and earthwork installations to create opportunities for people to question, connect and take action against vulnerabilities that can lead to human trafficking, modern slavery and exploitation.
Wyoming DEQ Rules Against Saratoga Landscaper
The Wyoming Environmental Quality Control council voted Friday in a ruling against Saratoga landscaping material supplier Randy Stevens. Last December, the Department of Environmental Quality attempted to have Randy Stevens forfeit his $66,000 bond. The state accused Stevens of willingly violating a 2020 agreement to cease mining operations and bring his Saratoga property up to DEQ standards.

Medicine Bow Town Council Discusses New SCWEMS Agreement

South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services was formed in 2009 using money and equipment provided by the municipalities of Carbon County. However, the agreement between SCWEMS and the towns didn’t specify how the assets would be redistributed should the medical transport service cease to exist for any reason. The SCWEMS board has been working to update its nearly 15-year-old contract to include language that clearly defines the resources towns will recoup.

Saratoga Recreation Department Considers Changing Gym Door Locks

The doors for the gymnasium at the Platte Valley Community Center have keypad coded locks. Gym members are given the code so they may access the gymnasium during off hours. Some members have shared the codes. To prevent non-members from accessing the gym, the town is investigating having key fob activated locks installed.
I-80, US 30/287 between Laramie, Rawlins closed to some vehicles due to high wind
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed parts of Interstate 80 and US 30/287 to lightweight and high-profile vehicle due to gusting winds. The state agency announced on its Facebook page Thursday morning that it is restricting travel between Laramie and Rawlins as winds blow anywhere from 50 to 70 mph throughout the interstate in the Laramie Valley and Carbon County.
Hanna Takes Possession of Portable Ice Rink

HF Sinclair donated a synthetic ice-skating rink to Rawlins DDA Mainstreet nearly five years ago. After the city decided it no longer wanted the skating rink, HF Sinclair offered it to Carbon County Boys and Girls Club.
