SARATOGA − Officials are working to determine the cause of an explosion and fire that destroyed a home on Pinehaven Court.

At 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a house explosion at 7840 Pinehaven Court, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Office. When officers and firefighters arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. Officials contacted the home's owner and determined no one had been inside the residence.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, said Wood County Sheriff's Capt. Charlie Hoogestegar. There is no danger to other homes in the area, he said.

The Nekoosa, Grand Rapids, Port Edwards, Wisconsin Rapids and Rome fire departments responded to the fire, along with Saratoga First Responders and the Rome, Grand Rapids, Nekoosa, and Wisconsin Rapids police departments.
