Watching the tropics in April!
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The National Hurricane Center has put out its tropical outlook product for the first time this year ahead of schedule. Typically they start issuing their product on May 15th but a little circulation got the attention of the forecasters at the center today. It is a long way out in the Atlantic and conditions are not favorable for development over the next 7 days. The chances for developing are very small at 10%. They will not issue anymore outlooks on this system unless it looks like it is getting more organized. With water temperatures in the Main Development Region, or MDR, well above average and the fact that we are going to be moving away from El Nino and into a La Nina pattern during the peak of hurricane season (Aug, - Oct.) we can expect to see a very busy season in the Atlantic basin this season and even possibly out of season.
