Need for School Bus Drivers Continues as New Academic Year Approaches
HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 1, 2026) – School bells ring later this month, and an annual concern for districts is having enough bus drivers on hand. This week, Allendale Public Schools announced the elimination of bus service in some areas because of a driver shortage. New non-transportation zones will take effect when the school year begins, with some parents raising concerns about student safety and walking distances, but district officials say they will continue trying to recruit more drivers.
