UPDATE: Deputies have detained a man who allegedly shot a BB gun towards Mint Canyon Elementary School Wednesday.

After a several hour search, deputies eventually located and detained the suspect, said Deputy Meza, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“He had a BB gun, not a gun,” Meza said.

The call was first reported around 10 a.m. when the suspect in a trailer park in the 30000 block of Sand Canyon Road was shooting a pellet gun towards the school, according to initia radio traffic.

“We are on lockdown due to the police activity. The students and staff are safe,” said Catherine Kawaguchi, superintendent for the Sulfur Springs School District.
