Charges dismissed against former Chatham High School employee charged with selling drugs on school property
All charges against a former employee at Chatham High School, who was accused of selling drugs on school property, have been dismissed, court records indicate. As we’ve reported previously, Harry Carter was taken into custody on Feb. 10 after authorities issued a search warrant on his vehicle and said they found 24 clear containers containing green leafy substances, which later tested positive for marijuana, authorities previously told 10 News. A 9mm handgun and 25 plastic tubes containing rolled paper were found as well.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office issues notice of SCAM letter sent to Huddleston area residents
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of a letter mailed to residents in the Huddleston area of Bedford County. This letter is written on behalf of the National Police Association addressed to supposed members of the Huddleston City Council (which does not exist). The letter encourages them to add their name to a Petition to be presented to their City Council for "Quality of Life Policing" and requesting a donation to support this endeavor. The letter appears to be a scam with intent to collect money for actions and services that cannot be provided within Bedford County.
Pittsylvania Co. crews work together to get horse back on his hooves
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — Fire and rescue crews in Pittsylvania County worked together Wednesday to get an ailing horse back up on his hooves. On the morning of June 5, Laurie Lorette Allen, of Gretna, found her 33-year-old Appaloosa horse, named Eddie, "cast" up against a wall of her barn, unable to stand. A horse can become cast when it is lying too close to an object and is unable to unfold its legs straight in front of its body to stand up.
