A Bemidji man has still not been charged nearly two years after he was named by police in Wisconsin as a suspect in the shooting death of a woman. Manly McDermott is currently incarcerated in the Moose Lake Correctional Facility in Moose Lake, MN, where he has been serving a five-year sentence on a different firearms conviction.

Recycling Control Commission to open new Midtown Road site April 23
MEENON — The Recycling Control Commission (RCC) that provides Washburn and Burnett counties with recycling services is set to open a new Midtown Road Recycling location in the Town of Meenon. In 2023, the RCC was no longer able to accept recyclable materials at the Midtown transfer station as a result of a provider change.
