Driver knocks down light pole in SLO
A driver crashed into a light pole, knocking it down, on Sunday afternoon in San Luis Obispo. It is suspected the driver swerved to avoid another car that unexpectedly entered the person’s lane, police said. The driver then slammed a white sedan into a light pole by the intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and Descanso Street.
Grover Beach man arrested for possession of fentanyl, narcotics violations
A Grover Beach man was arrested last week for multiple narcotics violations, including possession of over $80,000 in fentanyl, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office announced today.

Cal Poly issues apology to Kristin Smart's family, 27 years to the day after her disappearance

DA's Office prosecutes deadly fentanyl sale as homicide
San Luis Obispo County is possibly facing a first: prosecuting a fentanyl overdose death as a homicide. On May 15, the Sheriff's Office arrested Templeton native Brandi Turner for allegedly selling fentanyl to 31-year-old Quinn Hall that resulted in his death. Hall's body was discovered behind the county Animal Services building on Oklahoma Avenue on Oct. 27, 2022. The Sheriff's Office later determined the cause to be a fentanyl overdose and that Turner sold him the synthetic opioid.

Cal Poly sorority sisters accused of making false rape allegation
A Cal Poly San Luis Obispo fraternity member filed a lawsuit last month against two sorority sisters for allegedly spreading a fabricated rape allegation. The suit accuses Samantha Canik, a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, of alleging rape following a consensual sexual encounter. Her roommate and sorority sister, Sydney Walsh, then allegedly “involved herself in the assault on plaintiff’s reputation.”
Suspects apprehended after vehicle pursuit and robbery at Atascadero bar
ATASCADERO — In response to a robbery incident at Outlaws Bar and Grill on East Front Road, the Atascadero Police Department (APD) apprehended the suspects involved.
