The National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center told the San Francisco-based outlet SFGate that long-term models show that the state could get another storm as soon as next week.
The forecasters predict the possibility of about an inch of rain across the region, which is four times the amount usually seen in Los Angeles for the entire month of May.
There's a chance of isolated thunderstorms in Sacramento and forecasters have warned drivers to watch out for slick roads.
However, advanced weather model s can vary greatly, especially when they're looked at nearly two weeks out.
"Normally, I wouldn't post Upper Air projections out 10 days. You're asking for trouble," meteorologist Steve Paulson of KTVU said on X.
"10 days from now, we'll be into early May and the global models are all trending towards more low pressure systems dropping into California . Staying cool and possible rain seems likely if right."
A cold front is already passing through Los Angeles this week with below average temperatures forecasted for the weekend. Highs are expected to be nearly 10 degrees below average through at least Wednesday.
“A cool and cloudy weather pattern will set up for much of this week as strong onshore flow and a deeper marine layer will bring low clouds and fog to the coast and coastal valleys,” the National Weather Service Los Angeles said.
“There will be a chance for drizzle or very light rain this week with the passage of these systems.”
