U.S. Border Patrol Agent involved in use of force incident near border

UPDATE:

U.S. Border Patrol sent a statement to ABC-7 Thursday night with the details of the incident saying:
"On April 25, 2024, a Border Patrol agent assigned to the El Paso Sector was involved in a use of force incident near the border. The incident is under review by Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available."

Mexican emergency dispatch received a 911 call reporting shots fired at about 1:53 p.m. Thursday.

Reports stated it happened in what is known as the Riveras del Bravo IX neighborhood along the Juarez-Porvenir Highway near Rivera del Maple Street near the border wall international marker #53 across San Elizario, Texas.

An agent of the U.S. Border Patrol reported a man shot his firearm in the agents' direction.

Officers of the Juárez Secretary of Public Safety and the Chihuahua Department of Public Safety responded to the scene but did not find any suspects in the area upon their arrival.

No arrests have been made on the Mexican side at this time.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- U.S. Border Patrol El Paso sector is reporting to ABC-7 that a Border Patrol agent was involved in a "use of force" incident near the border.

The incident is currently being reviewed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility.

U.S. Border Patrol tells ABC-7 they will share more information as it soon as becomes available.

El Paso Times is reporting a person in Mexico shot at the Border Patrol agent near the border in San Elizario. El Paso Times says the shooting happened at 1:30 p.m. earlier today.

El Paso Times also says no injuries were reported.
