Donovan Solano continues to round into playing shape.

In Triple-A El Paso’s 9-2 loss at Tacoma on Saturday, the 36-year-old infielder went 1-for-4 while playing all nine innings at second base.

Solano is hitting .300/.400/.500 with a homer, double and four RBIs in six games since signing a minor league deal with the Padres. He has played two games at first base, two games at second and two at DH.

Solano is a career .279/.334/.377 hitter across parts of 10 years in the majors.

He’s expected to help cover at-bats as a designated hitter in the majors, especially as Manny Machado sees more and more regular action at third base.

Machado (elbow) started his first game at third base on Friday.

Catcher Brett Sullivan (.992 OPS) went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and center fielder Bryce Johnson (.808 OPS) doubled as well in four plate appearances.

Left-hander Daniel Camarena (0-2, 10.13 ERA) allowed eight runs in three innings in the start.

Right-hander Lake Bachar (0.66 ERA) and right-hander Nick Hernandez (4.50 ERA) both struck out three in a scoreless frame.

El Paso is 11-15.
