SWAT teams arrested a man after he barricaded himself inside a Salt Lake City apartment building Thursday night.

The man was later identified by police as 26-year-old Sheron Taylor-Shephard. He was booked into jail on aggravated assault and violation of a protective order.

Around 7:30 p.m., officials received a call about the man who was "in crisis" and learned at the scene that he allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened to kill an adult female.

Police report Taylor-Shephard and the woman knew each other from a prior relationship.

Along with police, crisis negotiators and social workers attempted to contact the man believed inside the building at 1925 West North Temple.

Hours later, at around 10:30 p.m., Taylor-Shephard was safely taken into custody.

There were no reported injuries in the incident.
