Salem police investigate ‘suspicious’ death of 28-year-old woman found in road

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – Salem police have opened a “suspicious death investigation” for a 28-year-old woman who was found dead in the middle of the road on May 23.

Carla Fernanda Vasquez was spotted “lying in the roadway” after surveillance footage showed a car traveling eastbound near 111 Rural Avenue SE, where she was found just before 2 a.m.

Video showed a “light-colored vehicle, possibly a van or mid-size crossover SUV” pass near the intersection of Church Street minutes before paramedics arrived and determined Vasquez was dead.

Anyone with any information about Vasquez’s death is asked to contact Salem police.
