After a year of relative silence on the issue, Baxter County Prosecuting Attorney David Ethredge has finally weighed in on the secret text group created by former Mountain Home Public School Superintendent Dr. Jake Long to circumvent the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act with members of the school board by issuing an official warning letter to the district.

Gainesville falls to Bakersfield

Bakersfield Lions are district champs
The Bakersfield Lions baseball team took the class 2 district 10 championship title May 15 after beating Mansfield 8-5 in the final district game of the night. The Lions also beat out the Gainesville Bulldogs 5-3 in the district semi-final game. Bakersfield High School golfer Connor James Jones, left, placed 37th in the 2024 Class 1 State Championship meet May 13-14 at Twin Hills Golf & Country Club in Joplin with a score of 92 on day 1 and 86 on day 2, totaling 178. His fellow golf teammate Kyden Alvardo, right, took 70th place with a score of 99 on day 1 and 93 on day 2, totaling 192. The course is par 72.

Ward named Ozarka’s Outstanding Faculty of the Year
Justin Ward (pictured), math instructor at Ozarka College, has been named 2024 Outstanding Faculty of the Year, according to the Melbourne-based college. “Teaching math across various programs and online platforms, Ward has demonstrated versatility and dedication in ensuring that students receive the support and guidance they need to succeed,” Ozarka College said in a release.
