Three individuals in Cattaraugus County, New York were arrested for selling alcohol to minors during an Underage Drinking Initiative conducted by the New York State Police on June 7, 2023.

Seven Cattaraugus County Residents Test Positive for COVID June 7
Seven of the 20 Cattaraugus County residents tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday were positive, according to data from the New York State Department of Health. The state data indicated that 19,624 county residents have tested positive since the start of the pandemic. The New York State Statewide COVID-19 Hospitalizations and Bed site showed that on Tuesday no one had been admitted to Olean General Hospital because of COVID-19 or complications from the virus. The state's Positive Tests Over Time by Region and County site showed that Wednesday's daily positivity rate in Cattaraugus County was 0%, and the seven-day positivity rate was 7.1%. In the state's Western New York Region, which includes Cattaraugus County, Wednesday's daily positivity rate was 11.6%, and its seven-day positivity rate was 16.3%. Among the 135 people tested in the region on Wednesday, 20 were positive.
Victims Identified In Plane Crash Near the Jamestown Airport
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two men who died in a plane crash near the Jamestown Airport Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff Jim Quattrone identified the pilot as 52-year-old Roger Jay Ryall of Toronto, Canada and the plane’s passenger as 52-year-old David J. Hughes of British Columbia.
Griffis Sculpture Park Summer Festival
Griffis Sculpture Park will host their annual summer festival on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 12-6pm. It’s a day filled with music, creativity, nature, exploration and much more. OPD: Charges Expected After Dispensary Raids
Olean Police say that charges are pending against the operators of unlicensed marijuana dispensaries raided last week. Captain Robert Blovsky, head of the Street Crimes Unit, said that he expected charges to be filed against “several people” in connection with the two dispensaries on West State Street. Several pounds of cannabis and cannabis products were seized at both locations and what is being called an “assault style rifle” from one of the two.

State DEC to discontinue Air Quality Alert for most of NYS, including Chautauqua County... The region's Air Quality Alert due to the Canadian wildfires will expire at Midnight tonight by the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Chautauqua County health officials Wednesday night issued an advisory recommending that any outdoor activities today be either postponed or cancelled. Interim Director of Public Health Dr. Michael Faulk said the Air Quality Index did reach 160 in the county about mid-day. A few activities were postponed... including the Jamestown Tarp Skunks baseball game at Diethrick Park. Air quality becomes an issue when it rises above 100 for particulate matter -- in this case mainly smoke. However... forecasters say conditions were already improving by early Thursday evening.
