City buys derelict house to expand ‘beloved’ park
St. Petersburg officials are purchasing a dilapidated home that blocks views of city-owned Harbordale Park and provides cover for illegal activities. City council members unanimously authorized administrators to acquire the property at 2405 6th St. S. for $239,000 and up to $10,000 in closing costs. They also approved transferring $350,000 from the General Capital Improvement Fund to the Harbordale Park Expansion project at the April 18 meeting.
St. Pete crash victim dies
ST. PETERSBURG — An 87-year-old woman involved in an April 4 traffic accident has died. About 9:52 a.m. that day, Ann Lee Nell Baker was driving a Ford Escape southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N. approaching 24th Avenue North. The accident happened after the Ford attempted a left turn onto 24th Avenue and entered the path of a Toyota Camry traveling northbound on MLK Jr. Street, police said.

3 rescued from burning car after crash in Tampa
Multiple good Samaritans, including two local nurses and two off-duty EMTs, saved three people from a fiery crash in Tampa early Saturday morning. It happened just after 1 a.m. on West Kennedy Blvd, near Westland Avenue. Bradley Reynolds, a local nurse, and his friend, who is also a nurse, were nearby looking for his missing cat Nestle when they heard the crash.
