St. Johns High School hosted an appreciation luncheon for the St. Johns Police Department on March 6. "I've worked with these officers who always go the extra mile to keep our community safe," said Principal Steven Palmer. Dustan “Dusty” Edwin Eagar, 58, died Sunday, March 12, 2023 in Springerville. He was born July 2, 1964 in Springerville, the son of Edwin Eagar and Emma Gloria Hamblin. Dusty is survived by his mother and his children, Hayden (Chandler) Eagar, Springerville; Ashley (Michael) Ciminski, Ogden, Utah; brother, Brannon (Shannon) Eagar, Eagar; and two granddaughters, Hallie and Kai.

Vernon Craft Fair contributes to community needs
VERNON - The Vernon Craft Fair, organized to fundraise for the city’s park and food pantry, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 at Vernon city park. Public admission to the fair is free. The event provides local hobbyists and crafters an opportunity to display and sell some of their craft projects, and network with other artistic individuals who reside in the White Mountains.
Elks nip the Bulldogs at home
EAGAR — The Round Valley Elks softball team has started the challenge to defend their state championship title. The Elks hosted the Winslow Bulldogs at Round Valley High School in Eagar on Thursday, March 9. While the Elks entered the game undefeated in regular and tournament play, the Bulldogs were searching for their first win on this young season. It took the Elks all seven innings to pull off the walk-off victory with a score of 7-6 over the Bulldogs.
3 die in SR 180 wreck Tuesday
Three people died Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on State Route 180 west of St. Johns. According to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line at milepost 353 a few miles from St. Johns and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on at 5:05 p.m. Both drivers and a passenger in the eastbound vehicle were killed. Their names were not released.
Head-on crash leaves 3 dead in eastern Arizona
ST. JOHNS, AZ. (3TV/CBS 5) — Three people have died following a crash Tuesday afternoon in eastern Arizona. The collision happened just after 5 p.m. on US 180 at milepost 353 near the town of St. Johns. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, an eastbound sedan crossed the centerline and hit another car head-on. Both drivers were pronounced dead on the scene. DPS says a passenger from the eastbound sedan was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. No one else was hurt.
