U.S. Highway 63 resurfacing in northeast Missouri delayed until mid-June
NORTHEAST MISSOURI — Road resurfacing work on U.S. Highway 63 in northeast Missouri that was set to begin this week has been delayed. In a release Monday morning, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials announced that work on a 24-mile stretch of U.S. 63 from the Iowa state line to 0.6 mile north of Business 63 near Kirksville will now begin as early as mid-June.

Four people killed in a house explosion in southwestern Missouri
GOODHOPE, Mo. (AP) — Four people in rural Missouri died when an explosion that could be heard 10 miles (6.2 kilometers) away occurred at a house. The explosion happened Saturday night near the unincorporated town of Goodhope. Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase said the home was undergoing renovations and a propane leak was found. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Missouri Fire Marshal’s Office and local officials continue investigating.

Missouri health leaders report elevated lead levels in private drinking water wells
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) — Missouri health leaders report elevated levels of lead in private drinking water wells in the Seymour area. State partners, including the Missouri Departments of Natural Resources (DNR) and Health and Senior Services (DHSS), are working collaboratively with the Webster County Health Unit (WCHU) to address the issue. The residents who receive a letter regarding well sampling are encouraged to complete and return the access agreement. To help determine the extent of the possible impacts, DNR will be sampling residential private drinking water wells in an approximate 2-mile radius in southeast Webster County. DNR, DHSS, and WCHU are taking this important step to ensure the health of residents with private wells in that area.
