    PREP ROUNDUP: Rebels Take Two At Grainger

    RUTLEDGE — The South Greene Rebels baseball team swept a doubleheader at Grainger on Monday, winning the first game 6-0 and the second game 5-3.

    In the 6-0 victory in the first game, Dustin Crum drew the start on the mound and pitched 3 2/3 innings for the win. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out three.

    South Greene’s Brendan Lisenby tossed 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief. He struck out two.

    South Greene’s Colby Brooks was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Jacob Susong was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Colton Fillers and Tyler Buckner each had a hit and an RBI, and Lisenby and Seth Franklin each had a hit.

    In the 5-3 win in the second game, Brooks went 2-for-3 with a double, Franklin and Grayson Rader each had a hit and an RBI, Fillers had a triple and Buckner had a hit.

    Rader drew the start on the mound and pitched two shutout innings. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out none.

    Brooks tossed two innings of relief. he gave up a hit, an unearned run, walked two and struck out three.

    Susong closed with a scoreless inning. He gave up a hit, walked two and struck out two.

    South Greene improves to 14-10.

    North Greene 7 Happy Valley 1

    BAILEYTON — Mason Smith went the distance on the mound for the North Greene Huskies in a 7-1 win over Happy Valley on Monday.

    In seven innings, Smith gave up three hits, walked one and struck out eight. Happy Valley’s run was earned.

    North Greene’s Owen Pierce went 2-for-2 with two RBI, Adam Weir had a hit and an RBI, and Jake Duffy and Grayson Collins each had a hit.

    North Greene improves to 13-8.

    Chuckey-Doak 14 FCA Flames 11

    In a game that had 29 walks and 11 errors, Chuckey-Doak outlasted the Flames on Monday.

    Five Chuckey-Doak pitchers issued 16 walks, while five Flame hurlers walked 13. And the Knights made four errors that led to seven unearned runs for FCA, and the Flames made seven errors that led to six unearned runs for Chuckey-Doak.

    Chuckey-Doak’s Lynkin Cutshaw had a double and three RBI, Gavin Crum had a double and an RBI, Randall Sauceman and Eric Gilland each had a hit and an RBI, and Jake Hinkle, Hayden Roper and Bradley Caldwell each had a hit.

    Chuckey-Doak improves to 14-10.

    Carter 4 West Greene 2

    STRAWBERRY PLAINS — West Greene dropped to 16-8 with the loss on Monday.

    West Greene’s Mason McCamey went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, Braden McCamey had a hit and an RBI, and Jhonen Bath, Maddox Garber and Ethan Carpenter each had a hit.

    West Greene’s Judson Higgins took the loss. In two innings of relief, he gave up three hits, two runs, walked one and struck out three.

    SOFTBALL Claiborne 11 Greeneville 6

    NEW TAZEWELL — Despite getting 16 hits, Greeneville dropped to 20-12 with the loss on Monday.

    Greeneville’s Brynlee Jones went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Lauren Million was 4-for-5 with an RBI, Kyla Jobe was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, Kaley Garland was 2-for-4, Lydia Darnell and Leah Phillips each had a hit and an RBI, and Stoan Rader and Adaley Lamons each had a hit.

    North Greene 24 University High 11 (6)

    JOHNSON CITY — North Greene took advantage of eight University errors to improve to 7-8 on Monday.

    North Greene’s Hannah Brooks went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Loren Blevins was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI, Haley Bailey had a double and four RBI, Heidi Harmon had a hit and four RBI, Jourdanne Marr had a hit and two RBI, Destiny Fillers had a hit and an RBI, and Matti Phillips had a hit.

    Brooks pitched two hitless, scoreless innings of relief. She walked none and struck out four.

    West Greene Sweeps

    MOSHEIM — West Greene swept a doubleheader with Happy Valley on Monday, winning the first game 15-1 and the second game 23-1.

    In the 15-1 win in the first game, West Greene’s Morgan Brown went the distance in the circle. In five innings, she gave up three hits, walked two and struck out four. Happy Valley’s run was unearned.

    West Greene’s Amanda Owens was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Kaylee Willett was 3-for-3, Brown was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI, Alissa Lawson was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Haley Arnold was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Alexis Cutshall had a hit and two RBI, and Addison Peters had a hit and an RBI.

    In the 23-1 win in the second game, Lawson went the distance in the circle. In four innings, she gave up five hits, walked six and struck out one. Happy Valley’s run was earned.

    West Greene’s Chloie Reams was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Willett was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Aubree Everett had a double and two RBI, Lawson had a hit and three RBI, and Arnold and Owens each had a double and two RBI.

    West Greene improves to 7-12.
