Feds uncover covert scheme with Tennessee ties to infiltrate US companies, benefit North Korea
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — At least one person from East Tennessee is believed to have been involved in a covert scheme to allow IT workers outside the country to infiltrate U.S. companies by setting up laptop farms, which reportedly benefitted North Korea's nuclear weapons program in some cases, according to an unsealed federal investigation.

A scheme designed to let foreigners do information technology work as if they were actually in the United States has been unraveled by federal investigators. The investigation claimed that Jefferson City was home to one of several "laptop farms" that helped make the scheme possible.
Three Tennessee community college students injured and one professor is still missing in Brazil
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -On Thursday, May 16, a rogue wave in Brazil injured three students and a professor while they were on a trip abroad. Two of those students attend Pellissippi State Community College; one is from Walters State Community College, and the other is from Columbia State Community College.
