City centre street closed after ‘underground explosion’
A busy city centre street has been closed after what police believe to have been an underground explosion.Pavements in Durham city centre were damaged but there were no reports of any injuries following the incident at around 12.30pm on Friday.It was believed the cause was a gas or electrical fault.A cordon has been put in place between Framwellgate Bridge and North Road and people have been asked to stay away.A Durham Police spokesman said: “Police were called to Durham City shortly after 12.30pm today following what appears to be an underground explosion.“Pavements were damaged during the incident in North Road...

A possible Schoharie Revolutionary War artifact comes home
Those of us who value our local history owe a debt of gratitude to a Slingerlands couple for their generous donation of a “traveling trunk/document box,” possibly having belonged to Colonel Peter Vroman of Schoharie Revolutionary War fame. Their gift will become part of the historical collection at the Old Stone Fort Museum at Schoharie.
Ulster Savings Bank names Alexis Nastaszewski as Woodstock branch manager
WOODSTOCK – Ulster Savings Bank has named Alexis Nastaszewski as the Branch Manager of the bank’s Woodstock location at 68 Mill Hill Road. Ms. Nastaszewski, an Ulster Park resident, previously served as Floating Assistant Branch Manager. She joined Ulster Savings in 2018 as a teller at the Woodstock branch and has assumed the role of several positions in her career at the bank.
