The High Kings perform at 2024 Notre Dame commencement ceremony
Another academic year at Notre Dame has come to an end. Naturally, the year couldn’t reach its official conclusion without the annual commencement ceremony at Notre Dame Stadium. The 2024 ceremony brought a special conclusion besides some parting words from the Rev. John Jenkins, the university’s outgoing president. After all the speeches were given and diplomas were disbursed, the High Kings, an Irish folk band, provided a little entertainment. The group performed three songs, including Notre Dame, Our Mother and a new song dedicated the university entitled Glorio (For Notre Dame). Here’s the performance in its entirety: Is it out of the realm of possibility that a new Notre Dame anthem has been born? Everything one could want in a song dedicated to the university is right there, and the university would be out of its mind not to fully embrace it. We’ll see if Glorio has a serious life at Notre Dame beyond this ceremony. Until then, congratulations to the Class of 2024! Headlines in History 1906: South Bend Poster Printing Company in new building
What was making news in our area during this week in years past? The History Museum offers these newspaper excerpts to give you an idea. May 19, 1906: “The South Bend Poster Printing company is occupying its building at the northwest corner of Center and Court streets and has announced that it is ready for business. The company was organized early in the year to do a general printing business. Its attention will be devoted almost entirely to large poster work, however. Its first work, turned out a few weeks ago, was a large Fourth of July poster in three colors, one of the most attractive ever printed.” — The South Bend Tribune.
Miss Margie is ready for adoption and a new plot twist in her life
“She’s so fluffy!” Agnes would certainly squeal if she saw Miss Margie. Miss Margie is currently residing in the “fluffy” room of cats at Pet Refuge. She is a 10-year-old domestic long hair with the most vibrant green eyes. When she was first brought to Pet Refuge she was confused and missing her people. This senior was the very definition of “being a scaredy cat.” Miss Margie is resilient though and is slowly becoming more comfortable with people and she is now curious enough to desire interaction with them. She longs for love and attention. If you have a lap that isn’t being used, this sweet beauty would be happy to curl up on it and watch a little television with you. Evidently, her favorite show is “The Young and the Restless” and if you enjoy watching daytime TV, then Miss Margie is the purr-fect fit. Call today to set up a meet and greet with Miss Margie and be ready to discuss life’s next plot twist.
