90s ARE BACK: Third Bakersfield heatwave ends as Pacific trough brings "cooler" highs
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — This week's biggest "weather news" was the third heatwave of the season officially ending. Bakersfield saw 15 days-in-a-row of triple digit highs, beginning on July 29th and lasting through August 12th. The hottest day of the year came in on Sunday at 111, making it not only the highest of the season, but actually the hottest reading in 2 years! Up until early this week the last time Meadows Field hit 111 was back on August 7th 2024.

With a high of 103° on Tuesday, Bakersfield has now had 14 consecutive days with a high in the triple digits. In fact, it could end Wednesday. Wednesday's forecast high is 99°, so if temperatures are a touch warmer than expected we could extend the streak to 15 days.

Prolonged heat wave set to end this week
Good morning! Temperatures are slowly dropping as we inch closer to the end of the work week. This coming weekend will be nearly 20 degrees cooler than the one before. An upper level trough is set to drop in here on the West Coast, and its arrival will open the door for cooler air to flow into Central California.
