Safety urged as heat drags on: Hydrate, seek shade, watch kids near water and car safety
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — As the heat rolls on it's always good to take it easy, especially if you are spending a significant amount of time outside. Make sure you're adequately hydrated. Try to find the shade if you can. Look for light-colored and lightweight clothing and last, but certainly not least: never ever lose sight of children around bodies of water, whether that be a swimming pool, a river or a lake or a vehicle, always look before you lock and don't forget about any children or pets inside.

Back to triple digit heat
Bakersfield managed to stay under 100° for seven days in a row, but that streak ended Wednesday. Temperatures will only rise from here, with highs around 105° expected by the weekend and early next week. Triple digits are likely in the KRV, with mid 90s in the mountains.
