AG commits to supporting funds for tribe’s law enforcement
The state assumed criminal jurisdiction over the Flathead Reservation in 1963 under an agreement passed by Congress called Public Law 280. Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen committed to Lake County Commissioners on Monday, April 29, he would support legislation to fund law enforcement on the Flathead Indian Reservation and would serve as a mediator between the county and the governor’s office.

Lincoln County had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Plains-Hot Springs Horsemen on Thursday as the Lincoln County Lions made off with a 16-1 win. Herd of runners take part Dixon's Stampede
On a bright beautiful Saturday morning, runners from across Northwest Montana assembled in Dixon for the annual Bison Stampede.The event was started in part to help raise money to add improvements for the students. “We put the money into things that will help the kids,” Dixon Principal Crista Anderson said. Some of the funds from this year’s event may help build a future long-jump pit for the school’s track and field program. Governor Greg Gianforte launched the first arrow, followed by a group of Dayton Elementary students last Wednesday during the official opening of the Big Arm Public Archery Range.The governor and his wife, Susan Gianforte, were welcomed by Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Chair Mike Dolson and Rich Janssen, head of the Tribes’ Natural Resources Division.This new public range, located directly across U.S. 93 from the Big Arm State Park campground, features a covered shooting line and a trail system spread across approximately 35 acres overlooking Flathead Lake.Gianforte emphasized his personal commitment to hunting and shooting sports. Man who started 2021 Boulder fire has been sentenced
MISSOULA, Mont. - An arsonist has been sentenced to 60 years in Montana State Prison with 30 years suspended. 38-year-old Craig McCrea was found guilty of two counts of felony arson back in February. McCrea was responsible for the Boulder fire that burned over 2500 acres, destroyed 14 homes and forced thousands of people to evacuate Lake County.
