A Rocky Mount man remains in custody under a $400,000 secured bond in the Nash County Detention Center and faces at least 11 charges, mostly for drug-related offenses but also for resisting a public officer, according to N.C. District Court and jail records.

Clarence Borum, 34, was stopped April 23 on suspicion of driving while his license was suspended, the Nash County Sheriff’s office said in a press release.

A K-9 unit on the scene indicated the presence of illegal narcotics during the traffic stop, and Borum unsuccessfully tried to flee, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies said that a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana and two handguns, one of which had been modified to be fully automatic.

Borum appeared in court the same day as the arrest. The court appointed an attorney to represent him and ordered him to be back in court May 16, according to court records.

Borum had listed an address in the 400 block of Smith Street, the court records state.
