SPORTS ROUNDUP: Bulluck, Eagles roll past Chargers

Katie Bulluck (2-for-4, four RBI) drove in four runs on two hits to lead Rocky Mount Academy (7-2) past the Wilson Christian Academy Chargers (5-3) 15-1 on Friday night.

Bulluck hit a two-run home run to centerfield in the fourth inning and singled in the second inning to bring in a run.

The Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bulluck grounded out, Ellen Feagans (2-for-4, four RBI) doubled and Cameron MacDonald (2-for-4, RBI) singled, each scoring one run.

The Eagles added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Landry Miller (3-for-4, 3 RBI) tripled, Bulluck singled and Gabbi Ams (2-for-4, RBI) lined out, as each scored one run.

RMA added three more runs in the top of the fourth inning on three hits. Miller singled in one run, and Bulluck homered to centerfield.

The Eagles scored six runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Wilson Christian pitcher Stevie Cressionne induced Lizzie Dickson (1-for-2, RBI) to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored; Miller grounded out to plate one run; Ams singled in one run; and Feagans tripled home three runs.

Berkeley Miller earned the win for the Eagles. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run over five innings, striking out nine and walking two. Landry Miller gave up no hits and no walks while striking out two in relief.

The Eagles totaled 14 hits in the game. Martha Calhoun (3-for-4) stayed hot at the plate from the No. 9 batting position and also stole three of the team’s seven bases.

Wayne Christian 7, SWE 2

SouthWest Edgecombe held a 1-0 lead in then fourth inning but Wayne Christian scored seven straight runs (two in the fourth and fifth frames and three in the sixth) to pull away for the nonconference victory.

Deniya Mayo (RBI), Mackenzie Rogers, MacKenzie Moore (RBI), Alana Carroll and Ramzie Bryant had hits for the Cougars (6-7 overall).

Rogers suffered the loss on the mound for SWE. She pitched six inning and allowed six hits and seven runs (four earned) with 13 strikeouts and two walks.

BASEBALL

Kerr Vance 6, FCS 4

Faith Christian held a 2-1 lead in the second inning, but Kerr Vance Academy scored five runs in its half of the second to defeat the Patriots in a Carolina Independent Conference game at home on Friday.

Vince Wilson, Ashton Lascallette, Adam Creef, Tanner Trevathan (home run, two RBI) and Ayden Tyndall (RBI) had the hits for Faith Christian (2-3 CIC, 7-6 overall).

Tyndal suffered the loss on the mound for FCS. He worked 1.2 innings and gave up four hits and six runs (one earned) with five walks and two strikeouts. Lascallette pitched 4.1 frames and surrendered just one hit while striking out six.

Tarboro 19, RMP 0

Stephen Ribustello (three innings, one walk, two strikeouts) and Landon Browning (two innings, six strikeouts) combined on a no-hitter as Tarboro improved to 7-9 overall with a nonconference shutout over error-plagued Rocky Mount Prep at Municipal Stadium in Tarboro on Friday night.

Mason Satterfield (two RBI), Cole Craddock (three RBI) and Ashton Riley (three RBI) led the Vikings with two hits each. Ribustello (triple, three RBI) and Browning (two RBI) contributed a hit each.

A-G 8, Northern Nash 7

The Knights fell behind early and rallied to take the lead before the Chargers used a three-run seventh inning to take the one-run nonconference victory in the Tobs High School Classic on Saturday night.

Northern (8-7 overall) trailed 5-0 but scored a run in the third, four in the fifth and two in the sixth to gain a 7-5 advantage.

Ayden-Grifton improved to 12-5 overall.
