School bus strikes child on E-bike in Caldwell
CALDWELL, Idaho — ISP is investigating a traffic accident involving a school bus and an E-bike. All students who remained on the bus were safe and reported no injuries. Parents and guardians of the students on board were notified of the incident, and the students were transported home safely on another bus.

Hwy 55 in Caldwell to close over weekend for bridge work
CALDWELL — A portion of State Highway 55 will be completely closed over the weekend while crews place an overlay on a bridge. According to a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department, the highway will be closed between Lake Avenue and Midway Road from 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26. The overlay on the Wilson Drain bridge will extend the service life of the bridge, ITD stated, and provide a textured driving surface for added traction. Drivers are encouraged to use Interstate 84, State Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 95 as detour routes. “This work is a part of larger efforts underway since 2024 to add additional lanes of traffic, separated pedestrian and bicycle pathways and an undercrossing at 10th Avenue on SH-55 in Canyon County,” ITD said. “Construction is expected to finish in 2028.” ITD says that anyone seeking more information about the project should visit itd.idaho.gov/project/55farmway, call 208-477-1379, or email info@55farmwaytomiddleton.org. I-84 to close overnight between Ten Mile and Meridian Road exits for power line work
Drivers traveling through Meridian should prepare for an overnight closure of Interstate 84 later this month as crews work on power lines tied to a major overpass project. All lanes of I-84 will close overnight between the Ten Mile Interchange (Exit 42) and the Meridian Road Interchange (Exit 44) beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, so Idaho Power workers can safely reconfigure power lines that cross the freeway as part of the Ada County Highway District’s Linder Road overpass project.

I-84 to close in both directions for work on SH-16 extension
NAMPA — All lanes of a stretch of Interstate 84 will close overnight this week while crews continue work on State Highway 16 flyover ramps. All lanes in both directions of the interstate between the Garrity (Exit 38) and Ten Mile (Exit 42) interchanges will close from 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, through 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. “The closure will allow crews to place bridge decks on the new State Highway 16 flyover ramps above I-84,” ITD stated. Eastbound and westbound traffic will both be diverted north to Franklin Road. Though this closure is only in effect overnight, ITD said ongoing nighttime closures and lane restrictions on I-84 will continue through the fall. The SH-16 extension is expected to fully open in 2027. Updates about the project can be requested by texting HIGHWAY to 1-866-483-8422.
