Detours in place Monday as work gets started on Eckert Road Bridge
BOISE — A yearlong-plus process to replace the Eckert Road Bridge begins next week, meaning local traffic will begin to be affected. Starting Monday, Eckert Road will be closed over the bridge, allowing only local traffic between Boise Avenue and Millbrook Way, the Ada County Highway District said in a news release, which noted that “drivers should use Parkcenter Boulevard and Bown Way to get around the closure.” Bicyclists and pedestrians can use the Boise River Greenbelt and should cross the river at Parkcenter Boulevard. Barber Park will remain accessible throughout the project, ACHD states. For this phase of work, those accessing Barber Park should use Boise Avenue on the south side of the Boise River. The closure is part of ACHD’s Eckert Road Bridge and Intersection Project, which involves replacing the current bridge with a new bridge over the Boise River and Ridenbaugh Canal. The new bridge will include a multi-use pathway on the west side of the road and a greenbelt tunnel under the bridge, updated driveway access to Barber Park, and a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Boise Avenue and Eckert Road, ACHD says. Storage container removed from Nampa street
A large storage container that blocked an entire lane under a train trestle resulted in traffic delays for Nampa drivers on Tuesday afternoon, according to police. Officials said in a post to Facebook that the lane, located on 3rd Street N Sugar Ave and North 20th Avenue is blocked as of just before 4 p.m. after "some sort of large storage container" fell off a truck or trailer.
