    Rockledge's Jaida Williams-Goins tops 2024 All-Space Coast Girls Track and Field team

    FLORIDA TODAY Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year

    This season, Rockledge's Jaida Williams-Goins ran the fourth fastest 100 hurdle time and the 28th fastest time in the nation.

    In her final year of high school track and field, Williams-Goins' time of 13.64 in the 100 hurdles was a time that placed her among the best in the state. After a strong 2024 season, Williams-Goins has earned the title of this year's FLORIDA TODAY All-Space Coast Girls Track and Field athlete of the year.

    Her time of 13.64 in the 100 hurdles came at the Region 4-3A meet where Williams-Goins placed third. She was the conference (13.96) and district (14.86) champion and placed third in the 100 hurdles at the Class 3A state meet with a time of 13.84.

    Williams-Goins not only excelled in the hurdles in 2024, but she also performed well in other events this season. The senior placed first at the Cape Coast Conference and District 13-3A meet in the long jump while running on the district winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays. At the Class 3A, she was on Rockledge's third-place 4x100 relay team and placed fourth in the long jump.

    In the fall, the Rockledge High graduate will be heading off to the University of Memphis to continue her education and her athletic career.

    Here is the complete 2024 All-Space Coast Girls Track and Field team:

    Leigha Clark, Junior, Rockledge: Won first place in 100, 200, 4x100 relay at the Cape Coast Conference meet. Placed first in both the 100 and 200 at the District 13-3A meet. At the state meet, Clark placed eighth in the 100 and ran on 4x100 relay that finished third.

    Maya Collins, Senior, Holy Trinity: Placed first in 100 and 200 meters at region 2-1A meet, also ran on winning 4x100 relay at region meet. At the Class 1A state meet, she place second in 100 meters, fourth in 200 meters, and ran on state winning 4x100 relay. District 8-1A champion in 100, 200, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay.

    Celina Coryell, Sophomore, Satellite: Ran on second place and county record-setting 4x800 team at Class 3A state meet. Placed eighth in 3,200 at state meet. Won second place in 3,200 and 4x800 at district 13-3A meet. Placed fourth in 3,200 at conference meet and ran on winning 4x800 relay.

    Addison Elwell, Sophomore, Viera: Won first place in the 1,600 and 3,200 at the Region 3-4A meet, District 10-4A meet, and Cape Coast Conference meet. At the Class 4A state meet, Elwell placed fifth in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200.

    Lorelai Filosa, Junior, Satellite: Placed first in high jump at conference, region, and district meets. Finished second in the high jump at the Class 3A state meet. Filosa also had the second-best high jump in the state this season at 5-8 1/2.

    Alana Gibbons, Junior, Astronaut: Won first place in shot put and discus at Cape Coast Conference and District 8-2A meet. Placed first in discus at Region 2-2A meet.

    Sanau Jhagroo, Sophomore, Rockledge: At the District 13-3A meet, Jhagroo placed second in high jump and triple jump, fourth in the 400 and ran on the winning 4x100 relay. Placed third in 200 and 400 at conference meet and placed second in high jump. Finished sixth in the 400 and third in 4x100 relay at Class 3A state meet.

    Keira Merrick, Sophomore, Satellite: At the Cape Coast Conference meet, Merrick won the 800 and ran on winning 4x800 relay. District and region champion in 800. Placed second in 800 at Class 3A state meet and also ran on second place 4x800 relay that set a new county record. Ran the second fastest 800 time in the state (2:09.73).

    Jordana Nunez, Senior, Bayside: State champion in 800 meters with a time of 2:10.82. Placed second in 800 at region and district meets. Nunez clocked the state's third fastest 800 with a time of 2:09.91.

    Trinity Parham, Junior, Cocoa: District champion in 100, 200, and ran on winning 4x100. Placed second in 100 and ran on first place 4x100 relay at Region 2-2A meet. At the Class 2A state meet, Parham placed sixth in the 100 and ran on fifth place 4x100 relay.

    Nia Singleton, Senior, Rockledge: Won first place in 400 and ran on winning 4x800 relay at the District 13-3A meet. Conference champion in 400 and 4x100 relay, also ran on second place 4x800 relay. At Class 3A meet, Singleton ran on third place 4x400 relay and seventh place 4x800 relay.

    Evelyn VanZweiten, Senior, Merritt Island Christian: Placed first in shot put, discus, and javelin at District 8-1A meet. At region meet, VanZweiten placed first in javelin, second in discus, and fourth in shot put. Finished second in javelin and third in discus at Class 1A meet.

    Alayezia Williams, Senior, Cocoa: Conference champion in triple jump, placed third in long jump and second in 100 hurdles at the meet. District champion in 100 hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and ran on winning 4x100 relay. Placed second in 100 hurdles, fourth in triple jump, fifth in long jump at region meet. Finished third in 100 hurdles and ran on fifth place 4x100 relay at Class 2A state meet.

    Jaida Williams-Goins, Senior, Rockledge: Cape Coast Conference champion in 100 hurdles and long jump, placed second in triple jump at meet. District champion in 100 hurdles, long jump, 4x100, and 4x400. Finished third in 100 hurdle and fourth in long jump at region meet and ran on third place 4x100 and 4x400 relays. At state meet, Williams-Goins placed third in 100 hurdles, fourth in long jump, and ran on third place 4x100 relay.
