Local Auction Featuring Collection of Signed Sports and Music Items Rare for Wyoming
SWEETWATER COUNTY — In an auctioneering career spanning more than two decades, Veldon Kraft has never seen a collection like it. More than 130 items are currently up for auction on the VRK Auctions website, featuring an array of autographed sports and music memorabilia. Kraft, owner of VRK Auctions, said the collection is quite rare for a local auction in Wyoming.
Local Law Enforcement Recognized for Work with Victims
ROCK SPRINGS – Four members of local law enforcement agencies were honored for their work with victims and difficult cases Saturday morning. The Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office and the YWCA hosted a short ceremony recognizing Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Clancy Gines, Rock Springs Police Department Detective Anthony Anson, Green River Police Department Officer Brad Dodson, and Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office Detective Matthew Wharton for the work they do in the county following the Run with the Badges event in Rock Springs.
McKenzie Home Group Recognizes Contributions From 2 County Residents
ROCK SPRINGS – The generosity of two Sweetwater County residents was recognized recently by the McKenzie Home group. Rev. Bernadine Craft and Kim Brown received bricks commemorating their support of the McKenzie Home project. The bricks were from the former Washington Elementary School and had plates recognizing their contributions to the project attached to them. Craft was the keynote speaker for the McKenzie Home’s recent fundraising banquet while the Kim and Jody Brown Foundation recently donated $95,000 to help establish the McKenzie Home.

Ever since I was a little girl, my dad always pushed my siblings and I to try new sports. My dad put me in softball, basketball, cheer, and even gymnastics. Softball just so happened to stick. My first practice, I vividly remember my dad throwing me out there to play catcher, I remember being scared because I had never played before. From playing rec ball to playing for a travel team, I saw improvement in myself behind the plate. My older sister’s all-star coach invited me to his high school varsity practice. I was only in seventh grade so you can only imagine how nervous I was. It was a great honor to be able to improve my skills not only through him but through my coaches Tito and Melissa Ochoa.
