Accused Rock Hill killer captured after attack, attempted carjacking at NC QuikTrip: Police

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man who was wanted for murder in Rock Hill was captured following an attack and attempted carjacking at a Huntersville QuikTrip, police said.

The violent incident occurred at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the QuikTrip gas station located at 16649 Statesville Road.

As Huntersville officers arrived, they discovered a man had attacked a woman with a knife and tried to steal her vehicle at the location.

The suspect, later identified as Shawn Marion Love, 27, of Rock Hill, SC, was unsuccessful in his carjacking attempt and fled the area on a stolen bike. The woman who was attacked received treatment at the scene for minor injuries, police said.

Video surveillance from the Huntersville QuikTrip gave detectives further information and a description of the wanted suspect. Around 11 a.m. Sunday, April 14, Huntersville officers responded to the report of a ‘suspicious person’ along Sherrill Estates Road and located Love.

While running a warrant check, officers discovered Love was wanted out of Rock Hill for murder . He also matched the description of the suspect from the assault and attempted carjacking.

Love has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering a motor vehicle in Mecklenburg County. His bond was set at $100,000 secured.

Following Love’s capture, a Huntersville officer recovered the vehicle stolen from the scene of the murder in Rock Hill on the side of Interstate 77 near Exit 23.

Once Love is extradited to Rock Hill, he will be served warrants for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Love is scheduled to appear in Mecklenburg County court on Monday, April 15.
