Weather Forecast: Rain and rumbles return to Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Waves of showers have re-entered Rochester’s airspace Wednesday on the heels of Monday and Tuesday sunshine. A cold front to our west will continue to approach tonight, sparking clusters of showers and thunderstorms into the night. These storms had a history of producing severe weather to our west across Ohio earlier Wednesday.

While this activity will head our way later tonight, our atmosphere will be vastly different. Instability across Ohio is maximized, synced to the peak heating hours of the day. After dark, storms will gradually diminish in intensity with eastward extend. We’ll continue to watch this line as storm breakdown can be a painfully slow process, but severe weather in our region appears very unlikely given our more stable environment. In spite of that, don’t be surprised to hear thunder as these storms sweep through.

Rain chances back off Thursday as we await another cold front Friday. That will bring showers back into the picture to end the week before ushering in cooler air this weekend. Most (if not all) will be dry with a lean toward sunnier skies Sunday.
