ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester kids are making a difference in the lives of local animals.

It’s an initiative led by art teacher Michelle Cardulla, who has been working with students in the Rochester City School District for more than two decades.

A couple years ago she founded KASA — short for Kids Art Supporting Animals — taking drawings made by students and printing them on merchandise to sell. 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to local animal rescues.

“It’s exciting to bring the artwork to the kids too,” Cardulla said. “Of course they each get a tee shirt that they were a part of or that was their art, so it’s really exciting and it’s great to write a check to the local rescues, so it’s a win win win. The kids love it and I love it and I love animals.”

The group is run completely by volunteers. You’ll find them set up at pet supply plus locations or local businesses about twice a month.
