ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Last night, a Billy Joel concert aired on CBS late Sunday evening before it was cut short during the broadcast.

“The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden” was in the middle of Joel performing his song “Piano Man” when CBS cut the program short for the local newscast. The cut left many viewers confused as to why the show ended abruptly.

We’ve been informed by the CBS network that there was a technical issue that affected CBS stations in the Eastern and Central time zones.  CBS has since released a statement apologizing to viewers.

Viewers who have questions about the concert can click here to share feedback with CBS.

Full statement from CBS:

A network programming timing error ended last night’s Billy Joel special approximately two minutes early in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. We apologize to Mr. Joel, his fans, our affiliated stations, and our audience whose viewing experience was interrupted during the last song. Due to the overwhelming demand from his legion of fans, BILLY JOEL: THE 100TH – LIVE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN will be rebroadcast in its entirety on CBS on April 19th at 9:00PM ET/PT.
