A workplace accident near Singleton Station Road took the life of a man Thursday evening, April 9. Kevin Cooper, 30, was fatally injured while working on a bus. The Blount County Genealogical and Historical Society has announced winners of its second annual essay contest, open to high school students in all local high schools, including charter schools, private schools, public schools and homeschool associations. Louisville Man Charged with Attempted Homicide in Critical Blount County Shooting
A violent encounter in Blount County has left a 63-year-old man critically injured and a 29-year-old man behind bars. According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived on the scene at a residence on Samples Road in Louisville, around 10 a.m. Wednesday to find a man wounded from gunfire. The victim was swiftly transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. The suspect, identified as Benjamin Absher of Louisville, was arrested following a coordinated effort between the Blount County Sheriff's Office and the Alcoa Police Department.
