ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Local law enforcement agencies are reporting that anti-Semitic materials have recently been distributed throughout the Roanoke Valley area.

If you have found a baggie on your doorstep containing flyers with graphic images and negative messages about people of the Jewish faith, you’re not alone. Reports of someone distributing the flyers were first reported to the Roanoke County Police on April 9 in the Mt. Pleasant area, according to Roanoke County Police.

On Saturday, April 27, areas in Roanoke City, including Carrington Avenue SW, Persinger Road SW, Bluefield Street SW, Gaymont Street SW, Thorndale Street SW, Brambleton Avenue SW, Corbieshaw Road SW, and Fleetwood Avenue SW also saw baggies left on resident’s doorsteps.

RPD told WFXR News that officers collected as many flyers as possible and that extra patrols have been set up in the area, as well as near local synagogues. Investigators with the Crime Prevention Unit are also working closely with synagogue leaders.

RPD says there are currently no suspects; however, the Criminal Investigations Bureau and the FBI are collaborating in the investigation.

WFXR News will update you with more information as it becomes available.
