Local students named to UT Martin spring honor roll
The outstanding academic achievements of undergraduate students at the University of Tennessee at Martin have been honored with publication of the Spring 2023 Chancellor’s Honor Rolls for the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, College of Business and Global Affairs, College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences, College of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Obion County Schools Honors Retirees
Union City, Tenn.–Obion County Schools celebrated the retirement of two of their favorite people Friday. Julie Kendall, Student Database Administrator, and Diane Terry, Front Desk Receptionist, will be leaving before the new school year begins to hit the road in their campers. Dresden man arrested on drug charges following search warrant
DRESDEN, Tenn. — A Dresden man was arrested on drug charges after a search warrant was executed at a home. According to the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Legens was taken into custody earlier this week on charges of manufacturing, selling or delivering Schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tyson closes $200 million acquisition of Williams Sausage
SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale announced Monday that it had closed the acquisition of Williams Sausage Co. Inc. of Union City, Tennessee. Tyson Foods didn’t release the deal’s exact terms. In a filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission on May 8, Tyson said it expected to spend between $200 million and $250 million on a “pending activity.”

Hickman County gets $150K for upgrades to Enterprise Park Clinton
The Hickman County Fiscal Court was notified it will receive $150,000 in state and local funding to make improvements to Enterprise Park Clinton. The Hickman County Industrial Development Authority will match a $75,000 allocation from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority to build an entryway into the facility, and to add a water well and high-pressure pump.
