At Santa Monica’s Fitoor, Indian Fine Dining and Beach Vibes Collide
In our Dining Reports, we share a firsthand perspective of a recent restaurant visit, covering everything from the vibe to must-get dishes. See more in the Eater app. Fine dining Indian restaurants have made waves on the West Coast, but the approach still seems somewhat fresh in Los Angeles — with Kahani and Khan Saab in Orange County two of the main hotspots until Fitoor opened in Santa Monica in late 2024. Fitoor’s menu shows clear regional contrasts: Gujarati and Rajasthani flavors from the north mingle alongside inflections from Goa and Andhra Pradesh in the south. The sleek faux-greenery-laden space feels somewhat formulaic though comfortable enough; service has always been knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Right now, Fitoor serves the most composed modern Indian food in Los Angeles, making it worth a lunch or dinner venture to the beach.
