High school softball: Ridgeline earns convincing win over Desert Hills in game 1 of 4A championship
It’s been all Ridgeline since the start of 4A playoffs, with the RiverHawks qualifying for the 4A championship series for the third year in a row. This year Ridgeline has done so without giving up a single run to any team in bracket play. Ridgeline kept the no-run streak alive on Friday as it earned a convincing 5-0 win over Desert Hills to take a 1-0 series lead. It didn’t take long for the RiverHawks to get started as they quickly fielded three outs, while Brielle Gardiner and Ellie Pond each drove in runners for a 2-0 Ridgeline lead in the first inning. “We’re always striving to get those three outs to begin with,” said Ridgeline head coach Michael Anderson. “They have a tough lineup, their first hitter did a good job getting on, then after that I thought we settled down.

High school softball: Top seed Ridgeline, No. 2 Desert Hills stay unbeaten in 4A tourney
The top two seeds in the 4A state softball tournament stayed unbeaten Wednesday as each of them recorded two wins to move within one win of the state championship series to be held on Saturday. The top seeded Ridgeline Riverhawks beat No. 8 seed Hurricane 8-0 and No. 4 seed Cedar 12-0 in five innings of play, while No. 2 seed Desert Hills beat No. 7 Bear River 6-2 and No. 6 Payson 9-1 to stay unbeaten in the 4A bracket held at the Spanish Fork Complex. Ridgeline’s pitching was stellar in both of its games as it held Hurricane to just three hits and then was able to throw a combined no-hitter against Cedar. “You know it’s a big thing right now. Trying to save arms, trying to be as efficient as you can. And when our pitchers do that, it keeps the pressure on the other team and will keep us fresh for tomorrow.” Ridgeline head coach Michael Anderson said.
Prep boys lacrosse: Wolves hold off Stangs at home; Cats, Hawks also advance in playoffs
NORTH LOGAN — Beating a team three times in one season is rarely easy, especially when that opponent is an intra-valley rival. The Wolves defeated Mountain Crest in comfortable fashion in their two regular season showdowns, but needed to rally their way to a 6-5 victory on a warm and windy Tuesday evening.
